With a lot going around the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 , the fans are still speculating of the mini-auction date. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to confirm the mini-auction date,
recent reports have informed that the auction will be held on December 15. However, a clarity still remains under clouds, but this comes after earlier reports stated that the auction is scheduled to be held between December 13 to 15.
However, the BCCI has put November 15 as the deadline day for all franchises to submit the retention list, the reports quoting Times of India (TOI) have informed that the auction will be held just a month later on December 15. Furthermore, after earlier reports claimed that the auction will be held overseas, but recent reports have revealed that it will be held in India.
IPL 2026 auction to take place on December 15 in India: Report
It is to be noted that the last two auctions have been held overseas with Dubai hosting it in 2023 whereas the IPL 2025 mega auction was held in Jeddah. If the auction is held in India, it will be the first time since 2022 that it will take place in the sub-continent. Earlier, reports citing Cricbuzz had stated that Abu Dhabi was the first choice whereas other countries like Oman and Qatar were also in the mix.

On the other hand, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will hold its auction later this month in the national capital. While this will be their first-ever mega auction, the WPL franchises recently released their retention list which saw some big players retain their places in the squad.
