Rajat Patidar has been making runs in most of his opportunities recently but despite that the national selectors have not picked him for India’s upcoming tour of New Zealand. The Madhya Pradesh and Royal
Challengers Bengaluru captain once again continued his good form and scored an unbeaten 107 off 118 balls in the Ranji Trophy against Puducherry. Earlier in the same match he had already notched a half-century (51 off 66), showing the kind of consistency that has defined his domestic season this year.

He was not picked for the New Zealand tour despite a strong showing for India A against Australia A in the unofficial ODIs. After nearly three years away from the Indian setup, Patidar produced back-to-back fifties 53 off 51 balls in the first game and a fighting 67 off 82 in the second match when the middle order was under pressure against Australia A. He was the standout batter in the series for India A reminding everyone why he has long been regarded as one of the best middle-order options in the domestic circuit.
Rajat Patidar continues his good form in Domestic Cricket despite India Snub
The Test side under Shubman Gill features the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal and Sai Sudharsan, while the India A contingent heading to New Zealand for unofficial Tests also has players from the same pool. The right hand batter has led RCB to successive IPL titles, scored over 500 runs at a strike rate of more than 190 in the 2026 season and previously notched a maiden first-class double hundred, the omission is very hard. His international record is a very small sample size having played three Tests and scoring just 63 runs and a single ODI appearance. The form he has shown in the last few years suggests that he should be on the squad.
Rajat Patidar’s career numbers in first-class cricket are excellent with more than 5400 runs at an average in the mid 40s with multiple centuries. He has repeatedly delivered under the weight of captaincy, whether for Madhya Pradesh, Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy, or RCB. His latest Ranji hundred is another message to the selectors regarding his form. At the age of 33, Patidar is still producing quality knocks and he would be keen to get another chance in international cricket.
