India’s qualification hopes for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 final remain alive, but the road to the summit clash has become increasingly challenging. With seven Tests remaining in the current
cycle, the Shubman Gill-led Indian team will need a strong run of results to secure a place among the top two teams in the points table.
India currently have a points percentage (PCT) of 51.52 after playing 11 Tests, with five wins, four defeats and two draws. They are placed fourth in the latest standings, but will need to improve their position significantly to strengthen their chances of reaching the final.
The remaining seven matches will be particularly important, as India are scheduled to play a two-Test series against New Zealand away from home before hosting Australia in a five-match Test series.

A combination of five wins and two draws would give India a final PCT of 62.96. Five victories, one draw and one defeat would take them to 61.11, while five wins and two defeats would leave them at 59.26.
The calculations highlight how important every remaining Test will be for India. Winning at least five matches could keep their qualification hopes competitive, although their final position would also depend on results involving other teams. This means, the upcoming Test series against New Zealand will be extremely crucial for India to qualify for the forthcoming World Test Championship Final.
