India’s ‘Golden Boy’ and two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra recently has pulled out of the upcoming edition of the prestigious Diamond League event. With the key Diamond League moving to Poland for
the Silesia edition, set to take place on August 16, the 27-year-old Indian athlete has withdrawn his name.
However, the exact reason behind Neeraj Chopra’s withdrawal is not known yet, it comes at a time where fans were expecting the India versus Pakistan showdown after the two last appeared together at the Olympic Games in Paris in August 2024. Although, Arshad Nadeem has been out since long, Neeraj Chopra's last appearance came at the one-of-a-kind Neeraj Chopra Classic.

While the reigning Olympic gold medallist’s withdrawal comes after a recent surgery on his right calf. The decision of Arshad Nadeem missing the tournament was confirmed by his coach. Speaking of the Indian athlete, Neeraj Chopra has had an impressive start to the 2025 season. While he began with a victory at the Potch Invitational in Potchefstroom, South Africa in April, he followed it with a second-place finish at the Doha Diamond League.
However, he must not have stood at the top place on the podium, but Neeraj Chopra went onto breach the 90-metre mark with his 90.23m throw. He continued his brilliant run with a second place finish at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial in Poland followed by consecutive wins at the Paris Diamond League and Ostrava Golden Spike and NC Classic in Bengaluru.
While he also regained the World No. 1 ranking in the men’s javelin throw, replacing Anderson Peters of Grenada, he will be vying to come out good as he shifts his focus to the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, scheduled to be held from September 13 to 21.
