On September 5, 2000, Ravi Bishnoi was born to Mangilal Bishnoi and Sohni Devi in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He broke into domestic cricket in February 2019 as a leg-spinner, with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
match for Rajasthan against Tamil Nadu. After seven months, he played his maiden List A match against Jammu & Kashmir. In 2020, he was picked up by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 2 crore. Playing debut season of the cash-rich tournament, Bishoni got 12 wickets in 14 matches at an economy of 7.37. In 2021, his performance bettered for Kings as he claimed 12 wickets in nine outings at a thrifty economy of 6.34.
His three years of diligence in the domestic circuit got him a place in India’s T20 International (T20I) squad against West Indies. He bowled an excellent spell of 2/17 against the Caribbean side on debut and played an important role in India’s convincing six-wicket win in February 2022. His superb bowling also made him the player of the match (POTM). In September 2022, he also played the Asia Cup match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Bowling four overs, he took the crucial wicket of Babar Azam.
Ravi Bishnoi’s ODI debut and his performance for LSG in IPL
In October 2022, Ravi Bishnoi made his One-Day international (ODI) debut for India against South Africa in Lucknow. India faced a nine-run defeat and he recorded an expensive spell. Bowling eight overs, he splurged 69 runs and got the wicket of the wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock.
Before making his ODI debut, Bishnoi became a part of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL. Donning LSG colours, he took 13 wickets in 14 matches at an economy of 8.44. In 2023, he emerged as the most successful bowler for Lucknow with 16 wickets in 15 contests at an economy of 7.74. After playing four seasons for LSG, Bishnoi is the highest wicket-taker for them with 48 wickets in 54 matches at an economy of 8.80.
