Just a couple of days after getting selected in the Asia Cup 2025 squad, Rinku Singh turned on his beast mode in the ongoing UP T20 League 2025. Playing a captain of Meerut Mavericks, the left-handed went
on to smash 108*(48) runs in a match against Gaur Gorakhapur Lions at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on August 21. With the help of Rinku’s captain’s knock, Mavericks, who were struggling at 38/4 chasing 168 runs, went on to win by six wickets.
Batting first, Gaur Gorakhapur Lions posted 167 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Captain Dhruv Jurel top scored with 38 runs off 36 balls hitting eight boundaries, while Nishant Kushwaha scored 37(24) runs. Apart from that, Akshdeep Nath and Shivam Sharma contributed with scores of 23(16) and 25*(14) respectively. For Meerut Mavericks, Vijay Kumar and Vishal Chaudhary scalped three wickets each, Zeeshan took two, while Yash Garg put one in his bag.
Rinku Singh plays match-winning knock 108* runs after 38/4
Chasing the winning target, Meerut Mavericks had a poor start as they lost both their openers (Akshay Dubey and Swastik Chikara) at the score 24 runs in 4.2 overs. After that, Mavericks ended up losing two more wickets as they were 38 for four after eight overs. After that, captain Rinku Singh took charge of the innings along with Sahab Yuvraj as the duo didn’t let any wicket fall for the rest of the innings.
Rinku and Yuvraj put up an unbeaten partnership of 130 runs as Meerut Mavericks chased the winning target in 18.5 overs losing four wickets. Yuvraj scored a run-a-ball 22 runs while Rinku played a captain’s knock of 108* runs off 48 balls hitting seven fours and eight sixes. For Gaur Gorakhpur Lions, Abdul Rehman, Vijay Yadav, Vasu Vats and Prince Yadav scalped a wicket each.
