Former India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur came up with a fiery knock of unbeaten 91 runs in just 41 deliveries in the third T20I. After recording a 2-0 lead in the T20I series, the Women in Blue hosted their
counterparts in the third clash on October 20 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. While the home team was eyeing a series win, the guests aimed to avoid a 3-0 hole.
After opting to bat first, Smriti Mandhana and her girls got off to a decent start as Anushka Sharma posted 28 off 20 balls while Shafali Verma came up with a 37-ball 69. While the remaining wickets fell early, former captain Harmanpreet Kaur took control in her hands and came up with a crucial 91* run knock in just 41 deliveries.
The veteran batter hit a total of 10 boundaries and five maximums at a strike rate of 221.95 as India Women crossed the 200-run mark and posted 216 for seven on the board. In return, they got off to an equally good start as a Kranti Gaud delivery forced Kelis Ndhiovu to walk back on the first ball of the innings.
The body language is saying something… Why does Harmanpreet Kaur look so emotional?
With the Smriti Mandhana vs Harmanpreet Kaur captaincy debate brewing, is there more happening behind the scenes than we know? 🏏🔥 https://t.co/FPxhVfhu8Q

Just wanted to enjoy myself, just wanted to bat as long as possible: Harmanpreet Kaur
Reflecting on her knock, an emotional Harmanrpreet said that she just aimed to contribute with her bat and was glad that she could do so. Speaking in the mid-inning break, she said, “It feels great. Just wanted to enjoy myself, and great that I got some time in the middle and really enjoyed myself on the field.”
She also thanked the batting coach and said, “Well, after the two games, I got some time in the nets. I really want to thank Himanshu bhaiya, who’s been working really hard on me and today’s batting all about him.” She also finished by saying that she batted with freedom.
Notably, Kaur’s 91*off 41 is the second-highest individual score from No. 4 or lower for India in Women’s T20Is, behind her own 103 against New Zealand in Providence during the 2018 T20 World Cup.
