Fans lost their cool as the Chennai Super Kings suffered a horrific 89-run loss to the Gujarat Titans in a do-or-die clash in IPL 2026. Both sides locked horns in the 66th league-stage clash of the season
with the five-time champions’ playoff hopes hanging with a thread. Entering the clash on the back of two consecutive defeats, the Super Kings needed to record a win against the Titans in order to keep their hopes alive. However, owing to a poor show by the batters as well as the bowlers, their rivals registered an 89-run win and put an end to CSK’s playoffs race.
After being asked to bat first, the Shubman Gill-led side posted 229 runs with the loss of four wickets. Skipper posted 64 runs off 37 balls, while Sai Sudharsan came up with a brilliant 84-run knock with a combination of seven boundaries and four sixes. The momentum was carried by Jos Buttler, who remained not-out at 57 runs in 27 balls. In return, the Yellow Army got off to a disappointing start after losing Sanju Samson on a golden duck.

His fellow opener Matthew Short posted 24 runs while skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, once again flopped with the bat. While Shivam Dube added 47 runs to the total, his contribution clearly fell short, and the five-time champions suffered a blowout loss to get knocked out of the playoffs race.
