Former Indiaall-rounder Yuvraj Singh has appreciated Team India Test captain Shubman Gill for his leadership performance against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. In the five-match Test series,
Gill led his side from the front. The right-handed batter smashed 754 runs with four hundreds in 10 innings of five games and ended up as the leading run-scorer in the tournament. In the Edgbaston Test, Gill also played a 269-run innings, which is now his best red-ball knock, thus far. Following the series, Gill’s is getting praised for his stunning performance.
Recently, Yuvraj spoke to ICC Digital and emphasised on the fact that how Shubman Gill’s overseas numbers were getting discussed, but the 25-year-old handled the captaincy mantle stupendously in England. "There were a lot of question marks over his overseas record. The guy became the captain and scored four Test hundreds. It's just unbelievable that when you're given responsibility, how you take it," remarked Yuvraj.

Yuvraj Singh also commended all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar for their courageous and match-saving batting performances in the fourth Test played in Manchester. "The moment in the tournament was when India drew the Test series. I've never seen, in a very long time, Washington and Jadeja got hundreds and drew a Test match. That speaks volumes. Obviously Jadeja has been there for a long time. But I think Washington Sundar, as a youngster coming into the team, I think it was incredible to do what he did," added Yuvraj.
On the final day of the fourth Test played in Manchester, the hosts required eight wickets to win the match and seal the series by a 3-1 margin. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill went back to the dugout in the first session and the responsibility was on Jadeja and Sundar to play impactful innings and save the game for India. In the pressure situation, both players stood at the crease and notched up tons to help India secure a draw.
