Some of the most talented, and most recognised white ball smashers of the game in the shortest format belong to India and one among the list of hitters of most number of sixes is none other than Sanju
Samson.
But what are their numbers like and what constitutes their prowess?
Rohit Sharma – 205 sixes
Batting butchery at its best and one that seems beautiful and captivating in equal measure. Rohit Sharma has hit 205 sixes and called time on his career that could so easily have gone on but well. There are certain vagaries of the game that neither the CIA or the most skilled truth tellers could have ever gotten the hang of.
But what the younger generation ought to get around, is just how many sixes Rohit, a brand ambassador of the world double hundred in white ball game, hit in cricket’s format.
It’s over a double hundred, pointing to 205 sixes, to be precise. That’s over 1200 of his 4200-plus runs in the format.
Suryakumar Yadav – 179 sixes
The art of hitting sixes at will and in the most effortless fashion that there could be. Suryakumar Yadav, who has this incredible tally of sixes to his name, is also, lest we forget, a 2-time T20 World Cup winning captain. In 2024, he took what’s widely still celebrated as the catch of the tournament in removing Miller inches from the boundary, he most recently led his team in 2026 to a World Cup title.
That was not before single handedly rescuing his team in a game we India nearly lost against a significantly inexperienced United States of America.
Abhishek Sharma – 134 sixes
What a man. What a legend in the works. There are times where the young talent who took just 30 odd deliveries to score the fastest century in the format may seem brash. Even thoughtless in execution of some of his strokes. For instance, take the October 14 evening against the West Indies. Would he not have won the game or very nearly won the game making it, arguably, a last ball thriller when out of the blue, Abhishek Sharma offered a regulation catch to the outfielder Springer off Motie?
Who knows. Right? But what one does know is that at just 26, he’s emerged one of the best ball strikers and clearly among the most dangerous one in T20I format with no fewer than 134 to his name!
If that’s not impressive, then what is?
Hardik Pandya – 126 sixes
One hopes that one of the most effortless hitters of sixes, one who has even more sixes than the great Kohli, can recover back soon to be part of the side. He’s a fine talent. No amount of celebration of this passionate athlete can suffice to explain his love for the game. But somewhere it’s sad to see him being out for so long. Having played such a long part in India’s outstanding T20I success and consistency.
Virat Kohli – 124 sixes
What do you say about a man who’s dubbed a great having demonstrated grit, adaptability and consistency, at a level so supreme that it seems inept each time a cricket content creator or writer attempts to further salute Virat Kohli?
Is he incomparable? No. Is he a one of a kind. Yes. How? It’s not just the 124 sixes. It’s the faith he’s always had in his powers and the desire to correspond to the billions of expectations fans have had of him. And he’s still fit as a fiddle, loves to his sixes, plays each game as if the task of winning it for India is entirely is and guess what? He’s not done yet.
Sanju Samson – 100 sixes
He hit 97, lest we forget, in the must win virtual quarter final clash against the West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2026, a performance that helped India proceed further and win the semi and the final contest. Isn’t it? And he’s been trying to make the most of the scare chances afforded to him.
Scare because there’s so often been the case where the great batter from Kerala finds himself in-and out- of the team.
But in 2026, Sanju has stormed a comeback for the ages. The player of the tournament in the World Cup event, a mega success for us as India, then the stormy runs he’s hit against Afghanistan and as seen, recently in the Windies series (where he’s scored 152), have seen Sanju at his finest.
687 runs of the 1719 T20I runs have come this year. This included well over 40 his 102 sixes in 2026 alone with the year still not done.
