Team Indiapacer Mohammed Siraj looked stunning with the ball in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 and played a crucial role in helping his side conclude the series in a stalemate. In the five-match series,
he bagged 23 wickets in nine innings of five matches and ended up as the leading wicket-taker. In the final innings of the fifth Test at The Oval, it was his courage which helped India snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. With England requiring 35 runs and four wickets in hand, Siraj dismissed three English batters and handed the visitors an intriguing six-run win.
After three weeks of the final Test at The Oval, Siraj spoke to RevSportz and revealed that he draws motivation from the fact that he gets a chance to represent the country. "To be honest, I don't know. But when you play for your country, you don't think how it might affect your body so much as you think about doing it for your country. People like us have had one dream since childhood, and that is to be able to play for the country. And when that opportunity comes, we grab that opportunity with both hands. I am a believer in utilising whatever opportunities (we get) to play as many matches as possible for India, and try to win them,” remarked Siraj.
Mohammed Siraj’s fondness for Test cricket
When asked about the workload management and enervation which happens while playing red-ball cricket,Mohammed Sirajsaid, "No, it is my priority. I can do anything for Test cricket. I like the way Test cricket throws the toughest challenges and struggles at us, just like life does. Test cricket gives mental fatigue, emotional fatigue, body tiredness, et cetera, but that is the challenge that I love most about it.”
Despite the excellent bowling performance against England Siraj couldn’t make it to India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad but he will look to be at his best in the upcoming home series against the West Indies, who will be visiting India for two Tests in October.
