The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 is set to return to Africa as South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will host the 14th edition of the ODI World Cup. As per the ICC’s latest announcement, the tournament
will commence from October 2 with a three-team Super Series in Windhoek, and will wrap up on November 21, 2027. India will begin their campaign against Australia in Group A fixture on October 7 in Cape Town.
The tournament will feature 14 teams, with 57 matches scheduled to be played across 12 venues in the three host nations. The World Cup will begin on October 2 and the final is scheduled on November 21. A total of 14 teams will compete in the tournament. This is an increase from the 10-team editions of the World Cup in 2019 and 2023.
The expanded tournament will introduce a new format, with the competition divided into three stages before the semi-finals and final. The complete fixture list includes the group-stage matches, venues and dates, followed by the Super 7 stage, semi-finals and the final. The tournament will begin with the Super Series before the main group stage gets underway.

The groups for the World Cup have been revealed with arch rivals India and Pakistan in the same group. Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and a Qualifier are the other teams in Group A. On the other hand, Group B has England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh along with another Qualifier.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 Format
The tournament will begin with a Super Series involving the three lowest-ranked teams among the 14 qualified sides. They will play each other once, with the winner progressing to the main group stage. The next stage will feature 12 teams divided into two groups of six. Each team will play the other teams in its group.
The top three teams from each group, along with the next-best team across the two groups, will advance to the Super 7 stage. The Super 7 will consist of 21 matches, with all seven teams playing each other. The top four teams will then qualify for the semi-finals.
The team finishing first in the Super 7 will face the fourth-placed side, while the second-placed team will take on the third-placed team in the other semi-final. The winners will meet in the World Cup final.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 Venues
South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will jointly host the tournament across 12 venues. South Africa will have eight host venues, while Zimbabwe will have three and Namibia will have one. The venues include Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Newlands in Cape Town, Kingsmead in Durban, St George’s Park in Gqeberha and Centurion in South Africa. Zimbabwe will also host matches in Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, while Namibia will be hosting matches in Windhoek.
