The Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 is now the most keenly anticipated international cricketing assignment in the realm of the women’s game. And moreover with India playing hosts in the mega tournament, there’s
massive anticipation for the hosts to come right on top over closest rivals in white-ball cricket, such as Australia, England, and New Zealand.
But in the days and weeks running upto to the mega ICC event, it turns out, as reported by the revered CricBuzz, there’s some trouble brewing over the contests to be hosted in Bangalore, the beating heart of cricket in India in the southern region. Where it stands at present, the powerful Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well as the International Cricket Council (ICC) are quite concerned over what could be a disruption in terms of Bengaluru playing hosts to the game slated to be scheduled at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
So here’s the depth of the matter as exclaimed by a leading KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) official, "We've written to the State Government and are awaiting a response. It's not as if they've denied permission. If that were the policy, they wouldn't have allowed the Maharaja Cup in Mysuru. So, we're waiting. There is some more time for this and we're going step by step."
Women's ODI World Cup 2025 semi-final scheduled in Bengaluru on October 30
Some of the important contests that have originally been planned at Bangalore’s iconic cricket stadium include England versus South Africa, scheduled for October 3. This is followed by India versus Bangladesh scheduled for October 26, and then, just four days later, the second semi-final of the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup is also due to be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
