Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad turned out to be a star for Maharashtra during a match against Himachal Pradesh in the ongoing Buchi Babu Trophy 2025 in Chennai. The 28-year–old went on to score
133 runs off 144 balls against Himachal hitting 10 fours and four sixes. Interestingly, all the four sixes that Gaikwas smashed came in the same over.
Ruturaj Gaikwad went on to hit four sixes in a single over against Himachal Pradesh off-spinner Aman Jainwal accumulating a total of 24 runs in that over. The right-hander maintained a strike rate of 92.36 throughout his innings and showed great form with the bat after getting snubbed from the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Gaikwad went on to complete his hundred in 121 balls and didn’t come up with any celebration after reaching the triple figures.

Talking about the match, coming to bat first winning the toss, Maharashtra got a good start as Siddhesh Veer and Arshin Kulkarni added 64 runs for the first wicket. After that, Ruturaj Gaikwad joined Kulkarni at the crease as the duo put up a partnership of 220 runs for the second wicket. Kulkarni got out after scoring 146 runs off 190 balls hitting 16 fours and a six, while Gaikwad scored 133(144) runs with 10 fours and four sixes.
Apart from that, skipper Ankeet Bawane contributed with 31(43) runs while Harshal Kate contributed with 41 runs off 45 balls. Maharashtra were on 440 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 89.5 overs on day one. For Himachal Pradesh, Prince Thakur shone with the figures of 6/144, while Abhishek and Aman Jainwal scalped a wicket each.
