Amid the ongoing situation in the Indian sub-continent where majority of states in the northern part are facing severe flood like situations, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Punjab Kings (PBKS)
have come at rescue. The IPL 2025 runners-up have come in support of the flood victims in Punjab, which is seeing its worst floods in decades.
As per the latest update released by the state bodies, the deluge has claimed over 40 lives and has affected over 3.5 lakh people living in the affected areas. However, initially only 12 districts bore the brunt of the horrific disaster, it has risen up to affect all 23 districts in Punjab now. Seeing the ongoing upheaval in the state, the Punjab-based IPL franchise came together to provide relief.
PBKS donates INR 33.8 Lakh with Hemkunt Foundation and Round Table India for flood relief
The Shreyas Iyer-led franchise have come forward and partnered with the Hemkunt Foundation and the Round Table India as part of their ‘Together for Punjab’ campaign. The franchise have so far donated INR 33.8 Lakh in the relief funds wile helping in the provision of inflatable rescue boast for the evacuation of families stranded in the areas, along with providing medical emergencies and supply of essentials.
Along with this, the franchise have also launched a fund raising campaign as they aim to collect over IR 2 Crore till September 15 under their relief campaign. “Punjab Kings is also launching a fun raising campaign on Ketto with an aim of raising INR 2 Crore till September 15 to provide relief to the flood affected people and regions of Punjab. The funds collected will be donated to The Global Sikh Charity, who will use the aid to further assist the efforts for rebuilding Punjab,” the statement from PBKS read.
While the tragedy only broadens, several Indian cricketers have also extended support amidst these times. While former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh have extended support, Shubman Gill also voiced his support amid these tough times.
