Australia captain Pat Cummins has revealed the toughest opponents he has faced during his international career with former India batter Cheteshwar Pujara featuring prominently on a list that includes some
of the biggest names in the world cricket.
Pat Cummins, who has spent more than a decade competing against some of the finest batters across formats, picked one player from several major cricketing nations as his toughest opponent. For India, the Australian fast bowler named Pujara, highlighting the enormous challenge the former Test batter presented during his career.
Pujara became synonymous with India’s Test cricket during a period when the team established itself as one of the strongest sides in the format. Known for his immense patience, solid technique and ability to absorb pressure Pujara regularly occupied the crease for long periods and forced opposition bowlers to work extremely hard for his wicket.

Pat Cummins names Cook from England & Baz from New Zealand
Cummins’ list also featured several legendary batters from other nations. He named Alastair Cook as England’s toughest opponent, while former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum was his pick from New Zealand.
For the West Indies, Cummins selected Chris Gayle, one of the most destructive batters in the history of the game. South Africa’s AB de Villiers, renowned for his ability to score all around the ground and change the course of a game in a matter of overs, also made the list.
Sri Lanka’s representative was former all-rounder Tillakaratne Dilshan, another player known for his attacking approach and versatility across formats.
Cummins’ selection of Pujara is particularly eye catchy given the intense battles between India and Australia in Test cricket.
