Victoria all-rounder Glenn Maxwell took a superb catch at the boundary ropes to dismiss Jack Nisbet against New South Wales in the 6th Match of the One-Day Cup 2026-27. Harry Hoekstra bowled a fine delivery
right into the body of Jack Nisbet and the batter clubbed it straight into deep mid-wicket. Maxwell backpedaled to catch the ball, tossed it into the air as he crossed the boundary line, and returned to secure the catch safely. The Victoria Men were all smiles as that wrapped up the innings of New South Wales at a total of 257 after 49 overs.
New South Wales seemed to have lost their way towards the back-end of the innings as the runs weren’t flowing and the wickets were falling frequently. Nic Maddinson’s sensational knock of 126 from 127 balls held together the batting unit of the side and his dismissal in the penultimate over was crucial. Scott Boland and Harry Hoekstra did a clinical job in limiting the flow of runs in the last two overs of the game and they picked up 3 wickets in the 2 overs as well.

New South Wales hand Victoria a 47-run DLS defeat
Glenn Maxwell caught much of the attention in the first innings of the game with his athletic catch to dismiss Jack Nisbet and he completed 3 other catches as well. The bowling brilliance of Harry Hoekstra outsmarted the New South Wales batting unit as he picked up 5 wickets to disrupt their rhythm. Scott Boland was clinical with the ball as he scalped 3 wickets including the all important wicket of Nic Maddinson in the penultimate over of the game. Despite a batting failure from New South Wales, Nic Maddinson’s phenomenal knock of 126 from 127 balls was enough to take their side to a comfortable total of 257. Victoria faced quite an uphill task to chase down 258 in the second innings of the game.

The opening partnership of Victoria did not last long as Harry Dixon was dismissed for a 2-ball duck and they were in a spot of bother early on. The 67-run partnership between Matthew Short and Thomas Rogers steadied the ship for Victoria and they set the foundation for the chase. The runs seemed to have dried up as the innings progressed as none of the batters were able to stick around for long, and that impacted their run-chase. Blake Macdonald made a commendable effort to score 45 off 46 balls, but it wasn’t enough to take the side across the line.
Jake Scott’s 3-wicket haul led the bowling charge of the New South Wales and he picked up the important wicket of the Victoria skipper, Will Sutherland. Victoria fell short of the target by 47 runs (DLS method) and they have dropped down to the 4th position in the table. New South Wales have moved to the top of the table with 9 points to their tally as they have won both their opening games .
