Tim Seifert is nicknamed 'Bam Bam'. And that is for a good but simple reason. Anything bowled to him in his range or short or even deflecting down the on-side, can be quickly dismantled and lofted over
and into the stands. He does that without much ado. Something that was amply evident in the way the soon-to-turn 31 right-hander carried his form in the CPL outing against the noted Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, a team under the close watch of a noted West Indian - Vernon Springer.
Seifert's devastating unbeaten 125 came off 53-odd deliveries. And that's about it. At his peak, which is quite evident nowadays, he hardly seems flustered and backs himself to go for the big shots. He scores quickly and is pretty much an uncomplicated cricketer in the mold of, let's say, someone like a Phil Salt, or Aaron Finch or Glenn Maxwell or maybe even Finn Allen. Given his rich vein of form, three IPL teams that could target Tim Seifert happen to be illustrious names in the tournament and we have noted each of these with reasons.
Here are three IPL teams that could show interest in buying Tim Seifert at the upcoming IPL 2026 auction
1. Chennai Super Kings
Truth be told, much like success and the big glory days, the days of decline too, come to all IPL teams. The same could be said about the world famous, not just India-famous, CSK unit, whose stellar days, now seem to be on the past. But that does not mean that they'd not want to fire up some good form once again and return to the days of the yore. The 2025 season was a bitter disappointment for the supremely exciting unit that still very much comprises great headliners in the form of MS Dhoni himself, Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway.
But with someone like Tim Seifert, they can form a mini triumvirate of New Zealanders that, ideally speaking, could help transform the waning fortunes of the under-fire CSK.
2. Kolkata Knight Riders
Despite having a plenty of talented and redoubtable names in their ranks, where the previous or the last season of the famed IPL goes, KKR clearly seemed to struggle. Some critics and die-hard fans argue that ever since they let go of someone as talismanic and match-winning as Shreyas Iyer, the team's performances have plummeted and gone downhill. While KKR still have someone like Andre Russell, and there already being Rinku Singh in their ranks, they would like to blood some new talent in their side and who could be better than Tim Seifert?
3. Gujarat Titans
One of the most fearsome, supremely talented and consistent sides in all of the famed IPL, the Gujarat Titans do seem a different unit altogether the moment they have an in-form Sai Sudharsan firing with the bat with there being Shubman Gill up in the ranks as captain. But even despite all of that, the 2025 IPL results went against them.
With someone like a blazing right-handed Tim Seifert, Gujarat can play like Titans, much like their franchise name ordains. And they can, after picking Seifert, further propel their already strong-looking batting department to gun down their opponents. Make no mistake - they already have the stoic Jos Buttler in their ranks.
