The Indian cricket team won their maiden ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup after defeating South Africa by 52 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, November 2, and the celebrations haven’t
stopped since then. Just three days later, on Wednesday, November 5, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur shared a post on her official Instagram account, showing off her new tattoo and it’s none other than the World Cup trophy.
In her Instagram post, she wrote about the tattoo on her left bicep, “Forever etched in my skin and my heart.. Waited for you since Day1 and now I will see you every morning and be grateful”. Around the same time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to their official account for the women, sharing an elongated behind the scenes video of the team’s journey from Navi Mumbai to New Delhi from yesterday, to presumably meet the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi later today.

At the start of the aforementioned video, Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain of Indian women’s cricket team, shared her version of the World Cup trophy tattoo etched on the outside of her right arm with a huge glee on her face. It’s been quite the last few days for the Women in Blue and they have every right to celebrate their huge success in any way, shape, or form they want to.
India women's cricket team will play next against Australia down under in 2026
Moreover, the focus on cricket will shift for the Indian women’s cricket team during their next multi-format series, scheduled to take place against Australia down under early next year. They will be taking on The Southern Stars in a three-match T20I series followed by three-match ODI series and a one-off Test match in February and March of 2026 away from home.
Before that, some of the World Cup winners in the Women in Blue will be going under the hammer later this month in all likelihood during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction.
