Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr are among three teams affected by the postponement of Saudi Pro League fixtures following escalating Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. The league has rescheduled three Match
week 9 games amid growing security concerns and logistical challenges in the country.
According to the Saudi Pro League, the decision was taken for logistical considerations, including the mandatory minimum rest period between matches. The announcement came as tensions continued to rise following missile attacks targeting locations across Saudi Arabia.
The fixtures between Al-Hilal and Al-Riyadh, and Al-Ittihad and Al-Shabab, have been rescheduled for December 19, 2026. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated clash between Al-Ahli and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr will now take place on March 6, 2027.
The league has clarified that the remaining Matchweek 9 fixtures will continue as originally scheduled, with no changes announced for those matches.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr Match Also Affected
The postponement comes days after Al-Nassr’s AFC Champions League Elite fixture against Uzbekistan’s Neftchi Fergana was delayed by an hour in Riyadh following a security alert linked to a reported missile threat.
Despite the interruption, Al-Nassr secured a 3-1 victory, with Ronaldo finding the net during the contest. The incident highlighted the challenges facing sporting events as security concerns intensified across the region.
The latest escalation has included missile attacks and threats against key infrastructure, including airports and energy facilities. Saudi authorities have also reported intercepting missiles directed towards Riyadh.
Saudi Football Faces Disruption Amid Rising Tensions
The postponements represent another disruption to Saudi Arabia’s sporting calendar as the country continues to attract international football stars and invest heavily in its domestic competition.
For Al-Nassr, the rearranged fixture against Al-Ahli means Ronaldo and his teammates will have to adjust their schedule for the remainder of the campaign. The rescheduling also adds another consideration to an increasingly demanding season.
While the Saudi Pro League has not announced a wider suspension of the competition, the situation remains closely watched as developments in the region continue to affect sporting events.
