South Africa are currently touring Australia for a white-ball series, consisting of three T20Is and as many ODIs. While the Protea side lost the series opener in Darwin by 17 runs on Sunday, August 10,
they put a fightback in the second T20I, underway at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.
For the unversed, the home side, Mitchell Marsh-led Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. Putting the Aiden Markram-led visiting side to put the score first on the board, on the back of an unbeaten 125 from Dewald Brevis, South Africa posted 218 at the loss of seven wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.

In his 56-ball stay in the middle, Brevis went on to hit 20 boundaries - 12 fours and eight maximums, at a strike rate of 223.21. Although, the 22-year-old reached the three-figure mark off 41 deliveries, becoming the youngest South African batter to hit a T20I hundred.
The 22-year-old not only scored his maiden hundred in international cricket, but also became the second fastest in men’s T20I for the Protean side. He sits only behind David Miller, who has hit a century in fewer deliveries. Miller reached a ton in 35 balls against bangladesh in Potchefstroom in 2017. Moreover, Brevis is now the eighth South African batter to his a T20I hundred in men’s cricket, joining the likes of Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, among others in the list.
