It’s been almost close to a week now that the Indian women’s cricket team lifted their maiden Cricket World Cup (CWC) title, beating South Africa Women in the summit clash on November 2 at the DY Patil
Sports Academy by 52 runs. While the moment will be etched in history books, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) soon afterwards, announced INR 51 Crore prize money for the players, coaches and members of the support staff.
Although, this comes in addition to the USD 4.48 million prize money rewarded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the champions, several cricket associations as well as state governments have also announced rewards for the World Cup winning residents. Among them is the Andhra Pradesh government, who have announced laurels for left-arm spinner Shree Charani.
Shree Charani awarded Rs 2.5 Cr, housing plot and job by Andhra government
The Indian spinner, who picked up 14 wickets at an economy of 4.96 in nine games at the Women’s CWC 2025, has been rewarded with INR 2.5 Crore reward, along with a housing plot and a job by the Andhra Pradesh government. “Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced a major reward for Women’s World Cup winner, Team India (women’s) member, and Telugu girl Shree Charani. The CM decided to offer a cash prize of Rs 2.5 crore and a 1,000 sq ft plot to build a house in Kadapa,”statement from the official release read.
The announcement came after she met the AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at his residence. Moreover, the CM congratulated her for her exuberant performance, including her best of 3/41 and also felicitated her at a small ceremony.
