South Africaoff-spinner Prenelan Subrayen has been reported for a suspected bowling action in the first One Day International (ODI) against Australia played in Cairns on August 19. It was the maiden appearance
of the spinner in the 50-over format of the game. The match ended in the Protea side’s favour by 98 runs and Subrayen bolstered his team’s spin-bowling attack efficiently. He clinched 1/46 figures in his 10-over spell. Subrayen’s international journey started with his Test debut for South Africa against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. In his debut red-ball match, he grabbed a four-wicket haul.
Following the suspected action, the 31-year-old will go through an independent assessment of his bowling action at an ICC accredited testing facility. With Prenalan all set to miss the second ODI, pace-bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch and left-arm spinner Senuran Muthuswamy are probable candidates to fill the spinner’s boots.

South Africa will endeavour to get the better of Australiain the second ODI to be played in Mackay on August 22, to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series. In the 21st century, South Africa have won the ODI series in 2010 and 2018 against Australia in their own den. They will look to win the 50-over tournament down under for the third time.
During the Protea side’s victory in Cairns, Keshav Maharaj played an instrumental role with the ball. He bagged 5/33 figures in his 10 overs and became the player of the match (POTM) while Aiden Markram also played a notable role in his team’s triumph. The right-handed batter played a stupendous knock of 82 off 81. Both senior players will be expected to be at their best by the Proteas in the upcoming contest.
