The post carries the Indian and Australian flags clearly pointing to the opening clash of the group stage. 7 October 2027 is when India will take on defending champions Australia at Newlands in Cape Town. It is a rematch of the 2023 World Cup final and the first match of the main group stage after a short Super Series in Namibia.

Whether as captain or senior batter, Rohit Sharma is expected to lead from the front on that historic afternoon, with Kohli alongside him in what could be another defining chapter of their careers. World Cup Schedule and Who is in India’s Group
The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. It runs from 2 October to 21 November 2027 and features 14 teams for the first time since 2015. The tournament will start with a three-team Super Series in Windhoek (2–6 October), after which the remaining 12 sides are split into two groups of six for the group stage that begins on 7 October.
India has been placed in Group A alongside Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, co-hosts Zimbabwe and one qualifier (Qualifier A). Group B consists of New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh and Qualifier B.
