Sunidhi Chauhan sang India’s national anthem in Navi Mumbai
Renowned Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan was given the responsibility to sing India’s national anthem before the start of the World Cup final. She did her job efficiently as the anthem in her voice filled spectators with zeal. Some of India’s teammates were also seen emotional during the anthem as tears rolled down from their eyes.
Discussing the current developments in the match, India posted a competitive total of 298/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Batting first after losing the toss, India got a superb start from their openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. Both batters stitched a 104-run stand off just 17.4 overs. Shafali looked extraordinary with her bat in the huge contest as she notched up 87 off just 78. Her innings was studded with nine (seven fours and two maximums) boundaries. After a struggling start, South Africa have made a comeback in the match and brought India's run rate under 6.00 despite a run-a-ball fifty from Deepti Sharma.
