During a brand event for Asian Footwears called “The Chase Is On”, MS Dhoni, the former India captain, 44, who plays professional cricket for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL),
made a promotional appearance. While speaking about his course of action ahead of the new IPL season in 2026, a fan shouted at him to continue playing for CSK, to which he gave a hilarious response, talking about who is going to take care of his knee pain in that situation.
Notably, with the age catching up to MS Dhoni, he has had knee issues over the past few years despite turning up as a professional cricketer in the IPL for CSK for just a couple of months a year. After winning the IPL for the record equalling fifth time in the summer of 2023 with CSK, MS Dhoni underwent surgery on one of his knees in a prestigious hospital in Mumbai.
In the recently concluded IPL 2025, MS Dhoni was forced to lead CSK after regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament due to injury in the early stages. Despite his presence as the skipper of the team, CSK weren’t able to perform anywhere close to their high standards earlier this year, winning just four and losing 10 out of 14 matches to finish at the bottom of the IPL points table for the first-time in their history.
Yaar, ghutne mein jo dard hota hai uska take care kon karega: MS Dhoni
With the future of MS Dhoni as a player being uncertain at CSK in the IPL, which has been the case since his international retirement in 2020, when he was discussing it during the brand event for Asian Footwears, the fan shouted at him, “You have to play sir.” In response, Thala hilariously remarked, “Yaar, ghutne mein jo dard hota hai uska take care kon karega (Buddy, who is going to take care of the pain in the knee in that situation).”

It will be interesting to see whether MS Dhoni indeed turns up for the IPL 2026 in CSK colours, just a couple of months shy of his 45th birthday next year.
