Indian wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel revealed who he thinks is the best sledger in team India. Jurel recently appeared on a podcast with former cricketer Aakash Chopra, where he talked on various aspects
around the Indian team. In the conversation, Chopra asked Jurel who he thinks is the best sledger in the squad, and the youngster, without thinking twice named Virat Kohli.
Notably, Jurel is currently the part of the squad which will take on West Indies in the three-game ODI series. In the first game, Men in Blue will host the Shai Hope-led team at Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum, Kerala, on Sunday, September 27.
Coming back to the podcast, Jurel said that he thinks Virat Kohli is the best sledger, to which Chopra replied by saying that he knows how to get under someone’s skin. Jurel replied by saying, “He knows what to tell someone that would trick them. What should be the action and consequences of it, and how they would step out of their zone.”

Dhruev Jurel opens up on MS Dhoni’s imprint on his wicketkeeping skills
In the same conversation, Jurel opened up on MS Dhoni’s impact on his wicketkeeping skills. The RR cricketer said that Dhoni has been his inspiration, and he has grown up seeing him play. “100%, he has always been my inspiration. I have grown up seeing him play. I have seen him since childhood and wanted to imitate his wicketkeeping skills,” Jurel said.
Not only this, but he also revealed his real emotions on being signed by the Royals in 2022. He recalled crying when the Royals raised the paddle for him and mentioned that his relatives always asked when he would play in the cash-rich league.
“Nobody bid for me when my name came up for the first time. I started getting calls from home, and a lot was going on in my mind. RR raised their paddle when my name came up for the second time. I was crying; I was in tears. Even my relatives would not ask when I would play for India. They only asked when I would play in the IPL. I thought, now I will tell all my relatives that I will play in the IPL,” Jurel told Chopra.
