Josimar José Évora Dias, commonly known as Vozinha claimed that he lost his peace and tranquility after being famous. The Cape Verde hero attained stardom with his historic performance in the 2026 FIFA
World Cup when he kept a clean sheet against Spain in his opening game. Vozinha told The Observer that he no longer has any sense of privacy as he becomes the center of attraction wherever he goes. The 40-year-old goalkeeper highlighted the downsides of his fame and he seemed to be frustrated with his current lifestyle.
“I’ve lost my peace and tranquillity. I no longer have any privacy, or at least much less than I used to. Now I go out, I go to a restaurant, and there’s always someone who wants to take a photo with me or asks me for an autograph: Or, worse, someone is filming me. That’s what has changed most in my life, and I don’t think there’s anything I can do about it” stated Vozinha on his life after attaining stardom. Recently, the Cape Verde star was mobbed by his fans as he arrived in Chile to join his side.

Vozinha’s post-World Cup struggles continue at Colo-Colo
Vozinha’s performance in the FIFA 2026 World Cup was truly monumental and his life turned on its head. Cape Verde’s resilience throughout the tournament was led by the 40-year-old in goal and he became an overnight sensation. Following the first match of the tournament against Spain, Vozinha’s follower count jumped from 56,000 to 14 million. “A lot of people want to be famous and have a public profile, but they only see the positive side of that reality. To be honest, if I were offered the life I have today or the life I had before, I’d choose the one I had before: I’m not there so I can’t help them [his parents]. They have to learn with the situation and set boundaries,” added Vozinha
After reaching the pinnacle of his individual success, Vozinha attracted attention from several clubs at the big stage. The 40-year-old contemplated moves to Inter Miami and RS Berkane, but eventually decided to join Colo-Colo in Chile on a short-term deal. The dream run for Vozinha came down to an abrupt end as he made some costly mistakes for his side. Vozinha featured in just 1 of the 9 games so far and his future at the club remains highly unlikely as of now.
