After Carlos Alcaraz’s straight sets win over 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the first semi-final at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner breezed past his Canadian counterpart
Felix Auger-Aliassime to seal a berth in the summit clash of the US Open 2025. The Italian top-seeded beat Felix 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a battle which went on for three hours and 21 minutes.
The Italian, who entered the tournament after lifting the Wimbledon 2025 title in July, defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada. While Sinner picked up from the start, winning the first set 6-1, he was ousted by his opponent 3-6 in the second set, making the game more intense. However, the 24-year-old bounced back strongly and took the third and fourth set 6-3, 6-4 respectively to reach his fourth Grand Slam final of the year.
Sinner to take on arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz in US Open 2025 Final on Sunday
While Aliassime became only the second man to win a set against Sinner in the US Open 2025, the latter became only the fourth player in the history to reach all four Grand Slam finals in a single year after Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Moreover, he is also now the youngest man in Open Era to reach five consecutive Grand Slam finals.
With Sinner eyeing the final berth, he sets up a clash against World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz. Notably, the two will be locking horns in the Grand Slam final in 2025 for the third time after Alcaraz reigned supreme at the French Open whereas Sinner took the Wimbledon 2025 title, beating the Spanish.
