Cristiano Ronaldo continued his excellent form in the Saudi League even at the age of 41. In the 42nd minute of Al Nassr’s AFC Champions League Elite clash against Neftchi FK, the Portuguese forward produced
a moment of pure quality that made the score 2-0. Sadio Mane floated a looping cross in from the left. Aiman Yahya, who had come on earlier for the injured Kingsley Coman, took the ball with his chest and guided it perfectly into Ronaldo’s path inside the box. Ronaldo, with his back partly to goal, spun and lashed a sharp right-footed shot on the turn. The ball went low into the bottom corner before the goalkeeper could react.

The stadium, which was already buzzing after Angelo’s opener nine minutes earlier, erupted in joy. Ronaldo is chasing the extraordinary landmark of 1,000 career goals, this was his 981st goal. The goal came after an hour-long delay caused by a security alert in Riyadh. It was a neat, intelligent finish that required perfect timing and body control. The veteran reminded everyone why he remains one of the most dangerous attackers in the world.
Al Nassr beat Neftchi Fergana 3-1 in AFC Champions League Elite
Al Nassr won the match 3-1, but the game was not entirely straightforward. After the delayed kick-off, Angelo opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a deflected strike. Ronaldo’s brilliant finish made it 2-0 just before the break. Neftchi refused to fold and six minutes into the second half Alisher Odilov pulled one back, giving the Uzbek side hope. The visitors’ task became much harder in the 65th minute when Ikromjon Alibaev was shown a red card for a foul on Mohamed Simakan. Playing with ten men, Neftchi struggled to hold the line.
An own goal by Anvarjon Gofurov in the 78th minute restored Al Nassr’s two-goal cushion and effectively ended the contest. Ange Postecoglou’s side controlled most of the possession and created the clearer chances, though they had to work hard after the early security interruption and the temporary setback after half-time. The result gave Al Nassr their first points of the campaign after a heavy opening defeat, while Ronaldo continued his strong scoring form.
