On October 12, 1997, Rinku Singh was born to Khanchandra Singh and Vina Devi in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He is the third child of his parents. In March 2014, the southpaw made his domestic debut with his maiden
List A cricket game in Vijay Hazare Trophy for Uttar Pradesh (UP) against Vidarbha, in Jaipur. UP lost that contest by six wickets but Rinku played a superb 83-run knock off 87 balls. After a few weeks, he also broke into domestic T20s with his appearance against Vidarbha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. UP bagged a nine-run win in the match and the left-handed batter played a stunning cameo of 24 off five balls.
Rinku was given a spot in UP’s First-Class team in November 2016, and he played his first game against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy. Since 2018, Rinku has been a part ofKolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but in 2022, when he got the opportunity against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 66th match, he played an extraordinary innings of 40 off 15 in the intense chase of 209. Kolkata fell two runs short but Rinku’s batting efforts were appreciated. In his seven-year IPL career, Rinku has scored 1099 runs in 59 matches at a strike rate of 145.18.
Rinku Singh’s international career
In August 2023, Rinku Singh made his international debut for India against Ireland in a T20I match played in Dublin. After four months, he also got the opportunity to make his ODI debut against South Africa in Gqeberha. The 28-year-old has played 36 matches for India so far in his international career.
He was a part of Team India that won the Asia Cup 2025 trophy under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy. In the final against Pakistan in Dubai, he played the winning shot from his bat and helped the Men in Blue complete the chase of 147.
