Cricket teaches you a lot. Out of many things it teaches, one surely is - every match is a new match and every match will give you an opportunity to start fresh. In the ongoing T20 World Cup, India’s star batter
Abhishek Sharma has struggled with the form. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that except for one game against Zimbabwe, Abhishek wasn’t able to get going.
Interestingly enough, Virat Kohli - who is undoubtedly India’s best white-ball batter struggled similarly in the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup - except for when it was needed the most. Virat Kohli, who didn’t score a single fifty in the whole tournament, smashed match winning knock against South Africa, helping India to win the second T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli scored 76 runs off 59 balls at a strike rate of 128.81. He smashed 6 boundaries and 2 maximums in his innings.
Interestingly enough, Abhisek Sharma did exactly emulated Virat Kohli’s performance. Abhishek not only took his time in the middle but smashed the ball all around the park. It almost looked like that he knew where the ball will be bowled and his bat and eyes were ready to take on with it.
Abhishek Sharma smashed 52 runs of 21 balls at a strike rate of 247.62. His innings had 6 boundaries and 3 maximums. India team led by Suryakumar Yadav and mentored by Gautam Gambhir backed the 25-year old youngster and he finally produced the dream performance when it mattered the most.
