Rohit Sharma’s transition from the cricket field to television is already creating plenty of buzz, and the first episode of his upcoming show promises to be filled with stories, laughter and some special
friendships. Shardul Thakur, one of the guests on Rohit Sharma’s new show, opened up about his special bond with the former India captain and recalled a moment that became part of one of Rohit’s most memorable recent innings.
During the conversation, Shardul revealed that he was the person who handed Rohit the bat that he used during the third and final ODI against England at Lord’s in July. Rohit went on to produce a spectacular 138 off 110 balls, smashing a historic century at the Home of Cricket.

The knock was particularly significant as Rohit became the first Indian batter to score an ODI century at Lord’s. His innings included 17 fours and five sixes and came at a time when questions were being raised about his future in international cricket.
Shardul had earlier explained that Rohit had liked some of the bats he received through his association with SS Bats and had asked him for a couple of them. Given their long-standing friendship, Shardul was more than happy to hand them over. Rohit eventually used one of those bats to script history at Lord’s.
The camaraderie between the two was once again on display during the shoot of Rohit’s upcoming television venture, Family Full House with Rohit Sharma. Shardul, along with Shreyas Iyer, features among the cricketing guests, with the trio also seen recreating their popular dance moment.
Speaking about his equation with Rohit, Shardul went a step further, highlighting just how close the two are. He said he could even “give his life” for Rohit, underlining the deep friendship they share beyond cricket.
Rohit’s new show is set to premiere on September 19 on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.
