India are set to send a strong squad for the upcoming Hong Kong Sixes 2026, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar named as the captain. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 30 and will see India return to the six-a-side
competition.
The Indian squad features Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Krunal Pandya, Nitish Rana, Shashank Singh, T Natarajan, Rahul Tripathi and Rahul Tewatia. The presence of several experienced T20 players makes the Indian team an interesting one to watch in the tournament.
The Hong Kong Sixes follows a unique format compared to conventional cricket. Six players take the field for each team, with matches designed to be fast-paced and heavily focused on aggressive batting and quick scoring. The shorter format also places greater emphasis on players who can contribute in multiple departments.
India’s participation comes after a memorable period for Indian cricket. The country recently achieved a historic double at the 2026 Asian Games, with both the men’s and women’s cricket teams winning gold medals. The men’s team defeated Pakistan in the final, while the women’s team also secured the top prize in their competition.
The Indian men’s team has also recently completed a 2-1 ODI series victory over West Indies. India won the opening two matches to take an unassailable lead before West Indies fought back to win the third ODI.
With Bhuvneshwar Kumar leading the side and players such as Krunal Pandya, Nitish Rana, Shashank Singh, T Natarajan, Rahul Tripathi and Rahul Tewatia in the squad, India will look to carry their recent momentum into the Hong Kong Sixes.
The tournament gets underway on October 30.
