India head coach Gautam Gambhir paid a heartfelt tribute to Ajit Agarkar after the latter’s tenure as the BCCI chief selector came to an end. Gambhir shared a picture with Agarkar and thanked him for his
contribution to Indian cricket, highlighting the success achieved during his time at the helm of the selection committee.
“Dear Ajit Bhai, an absolute honour to work with you. Those 3 ICC trophies are testimony of your conviction: Team first & Team ahead, always,” Gambhir wrote. He also stated that history would be kinder to Agarkar before wishing him well for his future endeavours.
Agarkar’s tenure saw India achieve significant success across formats, with the team winning three ICC titles during his stint as chairman of the senior men’s selection committee. Gambhir’s message underlined the strong working relationship between the two during their time together with the Indian team.

BCCI chief selector post vacant as applications invited
With Agarkar’s tenure now over, the BCCI has opened the process to appoint his successor. The chief selector position has become one of the key vacancies in Indian cricket, with interested candidates required to submit their applications before the deadline.
