Carlos Alcaraz created history at the Australian Open 2026 beating Novak Djokovic to win the Australian Open Final. Djokovic got off to a quick start in the match winning the first set in just 33 minutes.
Novak Djokovic came all guns blazing serving very well and managed to break Alcaraz twice to clinch the first set 6-2. The second set saw Alcaraz take an early break and go 3-1 up. He then held his serve beautifully and went to 4-2. Carlos once again broke Djokovic’s serve to move to 5-2 and closed out the set comfortably by holding his serve and won the second set 6-2. The match was evenly poised after just more than an hour with both players winning a set each.
The roof was closed a bit more after Set 2 and Alcaraz had a chat with referee wanting to know that why is it getting closed a bit more but he brushed it away and focused. It was chilly in Melbourne and the arena had thousands of fans with the legend himself Rafa Nadal in the stadium. The third set of the match started with both players holding their serve and the score was 2-2. Djokovic got broke in his serve and Alcaraz took the advantage to go 3-2. Both players held their serve and at 5-3 with Djokovic serving, Alcaraz managed another break to seal the set 6-3. The Spaniard played some outstanding points and took the set comfortably.
Number 1 ranked player Carlos Alcaraz was leading 2 sets to 1 after losing the opening set and it was a question whether Novak Djokovic could come back. He was in the same position a few days back. The fifth set was closely fought and after 41 mins of the set both players were tied at 4-4 and were holding their serve easily. The ninth game when with Carlos Alcaraz serving, Djokovic had a break point chance but failed to convert it as the score became 5-4. Djokovic held his serve easily and the fourth set was 5-5 with almost an hour of play. Alcaraz broke back and won the fourth set 7-5 and won the Title.
