Just hours after Virat Kohli broke his silence on the tragic Bengaluru stampede row, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar also opened up on the same. The statement from the two players
came months after the fiasco, which left the celebrations turn into tragedy only moments later the franchise's maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) triumph.
It is to be noted that on June 4, following RCB’s IPL 2025 win, the franchise organised a trophy tour-cum victory parade in Bengaluru. Thousands and thousands of fans followed the parade, but who could have speculated something like this. While the team was hosting the trophy celebrations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, 11 people lost their lives and over 40 people were left injured.
We stand with you..: Rajat Patidar stands in support of families of deceased in stampede incident
Taking to X, RCB shared their skipper’s statement on the tragedy. “Every time I walk out for RCB, it’s with passion, and that passion comes from you. From your love, your belief, and your unwavering support. You’ve always stood by us. And from the bottom of my heart, I want you to know that we stand with you too,” his statement read. “You’ve all been in my thoughts and prayers. With all of us holding on to each other, we’ll find our strength again,” he further added.
Notably, the RCB batter’s comments came only hours after Virat Kohli’s statement, who also broke his silence after 91 days. “Nothing in life really prepares you for a heartbreak like June 4th. What should’ve been the happiest moment in our franchise’s history… turned into something tragic,” he said.
“I’ve been thinking of and praying for the families of those we lost… and for our fans who were injured. Your loss is part of our story now. Together, we will move forward with care, respect and responsibility,” Kohli further added.
