In the quarter-final of theDuleep Trophy 2025 between Central Zone and North East Zone at the BCCI CEG Ground, the former’s skipper Rajat Patidar put up a dominating show with his bat. Fielding first after
winning the toss, North East Zone picked up the crucial wicket of opener Aayush Pandey in the third over. Aryan Juyal got retired hurt after scoring 60 off 100. Danish Malewar and Rajat Patidar also stood at the crease and produced sensational knocks from their bats. Both batters took North East’s bowling attack to the cleaners and completed hundreds.
Rajat Patidarexhibited confidence with his bat and notched up a brisk century off just 80 balls. Riding on their captain’s partnership with Malewar, Central Zone crossed the 300-run mark comfortably in the game. After tea, Malewar scored his 150 while Patidar fell against Pheiroijam Jotin and concluded his sensational knock after hammering 125 off just 96. His innings was studded with 24 boundaries (21 fours and three maximums). Patidar didn’t get a chance in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad despite guiding Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title win this year.
North Zone looks shaky in the knockout match
In another quarter-final contest getting played at the BCCI CEG Ground, North Zone has looked nervous so far against East Zone. Losing the toss, North Zone got a fine start from their openers Shubham Khajuria and Ankit Kumar. After captain Ankit’s scalp at his score of 30 off 42, North Zone kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.
As of writing, North Zone have hoarded 255/5 in 65 overs. Manishi has been the most effective bowler for East Zone with 3/73 figures in his 15 overs. Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal and Mukhtar Hussain have also got one wicket apiece. Mohammed Shami is leading East Zone’s fast-bowling unit but he hasn’t got any success yet.
