He became a social media sensation after the fans began spotting him in attendance for his big brother’s matches. Lamine Yamal finished 3rd in the Ballon d’Or rankings and some of the fans have expressed their disappointment as well.
Lamine Yamal was in firm contention to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or award but he failed to finish even in the top 2. The youngster won the 2026 FIFA World Cup along with Spain and he had a formidable season with FC Barcelona. The winger was one of the key players for the Catalans throughout the previous season. The Spanish fans expected Lamine Yamal to finish higher in the final rankings but things didn’t go as well as expected. However, he did win the Kopa Trophy for the third consecutive time.

Lamine Yamal won the Young Talent of the Year award and he became the first player to win it three consecutive times. The Spanish forward played a pivotal role for FC Barcelona in helping the side secure both the La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup. He enjoyed a fine run of form with 24 goals and 18 assists across 45 appearances. Yamal was named as the La Liga Best Player and finished the league with the highest number of assists. He represented Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and he played a decent role in their road to glory. However, Lamine Yamal would be aware that he missed out on the spotlight award of the day, the Ballon d’Or.
As Lamine Yamal won the Kopa Trophy for the third time in a row, he would be aware that his next target would be the Ballon d’Or. He did have a decent campaign in the previous season but the only problem would have been his lack of contribution in the international stage.
