September 27, at Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum. The team has already assembled in Kerala, and are engaging in intense net sessions before the game. While several updates from the practice sessions have been doing rounds since the morning, one particular update left fans concerned.
It was reported that Gill was batting to Mohammed Siraj in the nets, when a delivery struck his elbow. The batter immediately got off the nets and had to get treated for it. While it left fans and pundits wondering whether or not Gill would be able to bat on Sunday, the latest update has come as a sigh of relief.

What is the latest update on Shubman Gill’s elbow injury?
According to Cricbuzz, the batter was treated for the injury, and remained out of the nets for almost half an hour. He was also spotted with bandage on the affected elbow. Reports further suggested that Rohit Sharma also checked on him. However, per latest update, Gill was back on his feet, and was probably gearing up for a nets session. Though it still remains unknown whether or not he practiced after the injury, or called it a day.
Not only this, but this also puts a question mark on his availability for Sunday’s game. If Gill is unable to take the field in the series opener, vice-captain KL Rahul will shoulder the captaincy duties. In the batting order, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma would most probably open the innings for the home side.
