India opener Sanju Samson came up with a blazing fifty in the second T20I against Afghanistan. The Men in Blue, under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, are being hosted by the neighbours at the Arun Jaitley
Stadium in New Delhi. After recording a seven-wicket win over the counterparts in the opening game, the three-time T20 World Cup champions aimed to extend their winning streak on Tuesday, while the rivals aimed for a turnaround. After asking the counterparts to bat first, the Nitish Kumar Reddy-starring bowling lineup dismantled the opposing batters at 159-8.

While the Ibrahim Zadran-led side looked for a comeback in the second innings, Indian batters were in no mood to spare the rivals. Openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma got off to a fiery start and put up an 88-run stand for the opening wicket in just 38 balls to push the side to the target. Though Sharma could only manage to post 39 runs, Samson took command in his hands and came up with a 20-ball fifty. The batter was eventually dismissed off 57 runs in 22 deliveries, following seven boundaries and four maximums.

The veteran batter, who has been in and out of the Indian team, put up an absolute batting carnage. While the Kerala-native took time and got off to a slow start to manage eight runs in the first ten balls, he unleashed and put up 49 runs in just 12 deliveries. In fact, in his knock, a total of 52 runs came from only boundaries. This is not it. Samson also completed his 1000 runs as an opener in menโs T20Is at a strike rate of 181.59. However, the real highlight of his knock came during the sixth over, when the star batter went all guns blazing and recorded 20 runs in four deliveries.
On the third ball of the over, Samson hit Nabi with a six only to follow it up with a four, four and a six. Both him and Sharma put up a 26-run show against Nabi, who remained wicketless at the end of the night. As for the 31-year-old, not only did his knock played a key role in Indiaโs chase of second win in the series, but also proved his mettle following a cheap dismissal at 10 runs in the series opener. The Indian team recorded a seven-wicket win in the second T20I to extend the series dominance 2-0.
