Star Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant shared a heartfelt post for Chris Woakes after the English pacer’s retirement from International cricket. The 36-year-old bid adieu to his international career
after not getting picked in the England squad for the Ashes 2025-26. “Making my debut in 2011 in Australia seems like yesterday, but time flies when you are having fun. Lifting two World Cups and being part of some amazing Ashes series is something I never thought was possible, and those memories and celebrations with my teammates will stay with me forever,” Woakes wrote on his retirement post.
After his retirement from International cricket, Rishabh Pant shared a story on his Instagram for Chris Woakes. In his story, Pant also took a hilarious take on his injury as the Indian batter injured his toe while facing Woakes during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. “Happy Retirement Woakesy. You have been amazing on the field. Lots of discipline, a big smile and always good vibes. Now you can finally give that bowling arm a rest and my foot too. You definitely left a mark on me before retirement. Wishing you a fantastic journey ahead in whatever you choose,” Pant wrote on his story.
Rishabh Pant aiming comeback in international cricket
Talking about Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper batter is currently on a recovery mode after missing almost two months of cricketing action. Notably, Pant got hit on a toe while facing Chris Woakes during the fourth Test of a five-match Test series in England in July. After that, he wss advised by the doctor to take a six-week rest.
Now, the left-hander hasn’t been included in the upcoming Test series against West Indies but Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar has said that he is likely to return for the home Test series against South Africa. “Rishabh Pant not fit for West Indies series, hopefully will be available for home Tests against South Africa," Agarkar said in press conference while announcing Indian squad for West Indies Tests.
