Jannik Sinner, arguably one of the best Tennis players in the world at the moment, is all set to begin his campaign at the China Open. The Italian international will be facing the likes of the Croatian
international Marin Cilic in his opening fixture of the tournament.
In the podcast ‘Served’ by Andy Roberts, Roger Federer was seen making an appearance and two tennis legends sat down and discussed tennis during the entire podcast. Roger Federer, who has won 20 grand slams in singles throughout his career was seen taking a dig at the Italian international Jannik Sinner. The Swiss international allegedly claimed that tournament officials are intentionally slowing down the speed of the courts so that players who use their maximum strength are the only ones who can challenge the defending Wimbledon Champion.

Federer stated that slow courts play an important role in Jannik Sinner reaching the finals of all the tournaments in which he will face the likes of Carlos Alcaraz with whom he has played five matches this campaign and managed to emerge victorious only in the Wimbledon. Jannik Sinner was made aware of this statement during the pre-tournament press conference ahead of the China Open to which he reacted in a very subtle and polite manner.
The 24-year-old stated that, “Hard courts are sometimes very similar. Sometimes there are small changes. One tournament that stands out is Indian Wells, because the ball really bounces high. The way the ball behaves on that court is a bit different. We have more or less similar playing conditions on the circuit. It’s been that way for a long time; I don’t know if there will be a change. I’m a player who tries to adapt as best as possible. I feel like I’m doing a good job in that regard.” The main focus for Sinner now remains to focus on the China Open and play well throughout the tournament.
