Former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma pulled off a one-handed catch during one of the training sessions, video of which has gone viral all over the internet. Sharma and the five-time IPL champions
are gearing up for their second encounter of the current edition of the T20 tournament. In the first of the Saturday’s double-header, they will be up against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Ahead of their forthcoming matchup, the Indians dropped a video of Sharma engaging in some fielding practice. In the video, the former Indian skipper dived to his left to pull the catch and later threw the ball up in the air as a mark of celebration. Needless to say, the video went viral on social media within no time, and fans couldn’t hold themselves back from praising Hitman for his fitness levels.

Notably, the 38-year-old hit 78 runs off just 38 balls in the Indians’ season opener against the Kolkata Knight Riders. During his knock, Sharma hit his fastest IPL fifty as well as helped the side break season-opener jinx after over decade. Now restricted to just one format in the international cricketing sphere, Sharma has put a considerable amount of focus on his fitness for the IPL 2026. According to Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene, Sharma went through a lot of stimuli and participated in all of the practice games.

Speaking ahead of the forthcoming encounter against the Capitals, Jayawardene said that Sharma's new fitness levels have also been helping him in his muscle memory. "For someone who has played the game for such a long time, it's in muscle memory, it's in how you wanted to go about,” said the former Sri Lankan cricketer.
"The hand speed was pretty good and how we wanted to approach and it was a good start for him, in the first game, and hopefully he can continue that,” he added. “I feel it's been tough, the tournament, but, uh, he's focused, he's relaxed, um, you know, he's contributing in a very positive way in the camps, which is great for us," Jayawardene concluded by saying.
Sharma would aim to continue his red-hot form in the forthcoming game against the Capitals as well.
