India made a great comeback on the final day of the fifth Test match against England at the Oval, London to register a thrilling win by just six runs. With this win, India saved the Test series as the five–match
series ended with a scoreline of 2-2. Mohammed Siraj turned out to be the star with a five-wicket haul as England lost their last four wickets in just 20 runs. The right-arm pacer registered figures of 5/104 as England were bowled out for 367 while chasing a target of 374 runs.
England needed 35 runs while India needed four wickets on the final day of the Test match.. After that, Mohammed Siraj struck early on day five as he dismissed both the set batters (Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton) in the first hour. After that, Prasidh Krishna dismissed Josh Tongue as England were now nine down. With just one wicket remaining England were trying hard to not lose wicket with Gus Atkinson and Chris Woakes at the crease. However, they couldn’t resist for long as Siraj cleared Atkinson’s stumps to end England’s innings and recreated his famous Ronaldo celebration.

Mohammed Siraj played a crucial role in India’s famous victory at the Oval taking nine wickets across both the innings. He was awarded player of the match for his contribution as India successfully levelled the five-match series by 2-2. It turned out to be a great redemption for Siraj from a heartbreaking defeat at Lords to giving a match-winning performance at the Oval.
“When I woke up today I had the belief that I could do it, I had the belief system. I took a photo from Google which read I can do it and put it as my wallpaper,” Siraj said at the post-match presentation.
