Just hours ahead of the second ODI of the three-match series against Australia Women, India Women have been handed a massive blow. Star Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues, who had a disappointing outing in the opening
match, will now miss the remaining two ODIs after contracting viral fever.
Just an hour prior to the second ODI, which is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, September 17 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed an update around the batter, while announcing her replacement.

While the confirmation from the BCCI is still awaited, but sources close to the developments have informed that the middle-order batter is suffering from viral infection and weakness and thus will not featuring in the remainder of the series. Moreover, Tejal Hasabnis, who was initially named in the standby list, has been added to the main squad as her replacement.
The 28-year-old right-hand batter has only played six ODIs thus far, where she has amassed 140 runs, at a strike rate of 78.66, averaging 46.67. While she made her debut against New Zealand Women in October 2024, her last ODI appearance came on January 15 against Ireland Women.
