Matheesha Pathirana, the Sri Lanka pacer, has deactivated his official Instagram account on Monday, November 10, amid Indian Premier League (IPL) trade rumours at Chennai Super Kings (CSK). It is understood
that the 22-year-old has attracted a lot of interest from multiple teams in the IPL ahead of the retention deadline on November 15 due to his ability to be incredibly effective at the death with his yorkers and slower balls.
With the IPL mini-auction for the 2026 season likely to happen on December 15, all the 10 teams have to complete player trade deals and retention in advance, which will bring the released players back into the market. The case of Matheesha Pathirana is quite a peculiar one since his manager Kalugalage Amila Silva shared an Instagram story with a pink background with the message “Loading…..…”.
At the same time, the CSK teammate of Matheesha Pathirana, Ravindra Jadeja has also deactivated his Instagram account after being linked for a trade deal with his former IPL franchise. Such uncertainty at CSK after MS Dhoni’s decision to play in the IPL 2026 isn’t an ideal situation for the franchise ahead of the new season, but they are a massive franchise with steady heads working behind the scenes.
CSK finished in 10th and bottom place in the IPL 2025 standings
Moreover, CSK had a tough outing on the pitch in the 2025 season, finishing in 10th and bottom place in the standings with just four wins in the campaign. The Chennai-based franchise were just behind Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Net Run Rate (NRR) and now, they will be looking to make it big in the new campaign next year and possibly help their talisman MS Dhoni to end their career on a high.
