Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India, scored an incredible 89 off 88 with 10 fours and two sixes during the ongoing semi-final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2025 against Australia at the DY
Patil Stadium in Mumbai. After the 36-year-old brought up her 22nd fifty in Women’s One Day (WODI) cricket on the 65th ball of her innings from Ashleigh Gardner, she went through the gears in her innings in pursuit of the 339-run target.
The right-handed batter started slowly in her innings after the fall of Indian openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana in the first powerplay stage while chasing a daunting target. As her innings went on, Harmanpreet Kaur started to find a few fours during her partnership with Jemimah Rodrigues, who was batting beautifully at the other end while going past her fifty as well, to keep India well within touching distance of the target.

Following that, the Indian captain accelerated her scoring rate quite considerably, getting the next 39 runs in just 23 balls, to keep the required run rate under check. Rodrigues and Kaur put up a partnership of 167 runs for the third wicket before her dismissal but there is still a lot of work to do for the Indian batting lineup to get over the finishing line and earn a spot in the final of the World Cup.
