14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a blinder in the opening day of Vijay Hazare Trophy, on Wednesday, December 24, as the left-handed batter from Bihar went on to smash an explosive 36-ball century
against Arunachal Pradesh. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 36-ball century is now the second fastest by an Indian in List A history, and it’s come in Bihar’s Plate Group opening game. This knock comes days after losing the Finals of the U19 Asia Cup 2025 to Pakistan.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke multiple List A records following his knock at the JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi. This was the second fastest List A century in India. The current record for fastest century is currently 35 balls, set by Punjab’s Anmolpreet Singh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season. Suryavanshi’s 36 now slots at the second place. It also sits among the quickest List A tons overall, a list topped by Jake Fraser-McGurk (29) and Ab de Villiers (31). Although, the record for the youngest List A centurion now belongs to Vaibhav Suryavanshi who is just 14.

Bihar started the innings in a brutal fashion led by their star opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He played a stellar knock scoring 190 runs off just 84 deliveries. His knock was different level as he hit 16 fours and 15 sixes while bringing up the runs. During the knock he went past AB de Villers’ fastest 150 in List A cricket by 10 deliveries. Also, his knock which included 15 sixes is now the most by an Indian in this format of the game.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi was also on his way to the fastest ever double hundred by a batter in List A cricke and he has 18 balls to score the remaining 10 runs but unfortunately he fell for 190. The record belongs to Chad Bowes, who scored his double Hundred in just 103 deliveries. The Vijay Hazare Trophy record stays with Narayan Jagadeesan who scored his double hundred in 114 deliveries against Arunachal Pradesh in 2022. Those records were missed out by a whisker but this century now means the 14 year old has scored a century in all formats of cricket in domestic.
