for the upcoming ODI series in Australia starting on October 19 down under. Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma is already retired from the T20Is and Tests and only continues to play ODIs for India.
However, there is still uncertainty regarding Kohli and Rohit’s availability for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Now, the upcoming ODI series in Australia will be crucial for the duo’s future in the Indian team. Between all this, Virat Kohli shared a post on his X regarding failure a day after Team India left for Australia for the upcoming white-ball series. “The only time you truly fail, is when you decide to give up,” Kohli wrote on his X post and it has been getting lots of attention from the fans.

Indian Head Coach Gautam Gambhir also opened up about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s future in ODIs and their availability for the 2027 Cricket World Cup. After the end of the home Test series against West Indies, Gambhir was asked about the same during the press conference, but the Indian Coach didn’t give any proper answer which also indicates that the Australia tour will be crucial for both Kohli and Rohit.
“They (Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli) are quality players, and their experience will be invaluable. With the 2027 World Cup still two and a half years away, it’s important to stay focused on the present. Kohli and Rohit are both exceptional players, and their return will be a big boost. Hopefully, they have a successful tour, and more importantly, the team comes out with a strong series performance in Australia,” Gambhir said.
